Fire prevention is the number one concern for all Sourdough Members. Keeping the ranch from going up in flames takes efforts from everyone. Weber County Fire District evaluates conditions on the Ranch regularly. In the event of a fire their number one concern is to evacuate people off the Ranch. They will do all they can to get members and guests down to a safe area as quickly as possible. This is why it is so important for members and their guests to sign in at the cabin for each visit. Knowing how many people are on the ranch is critical in the event of a fire. Their number two concern is controlling the fire as quickly as they can, and third concern is saving property. Losing the Ranch would be devastating to all so please use all precautions and follow all safety rules every time you on the Ranch.
- All campfires must be in a contained area
- A metal fire ring, submerged in the ground with a metal lid that covers the entire ring is required along with a 2.5 gallon water fire extinguisher within 20 feet of the fire pit.
- A fire pit has to be installed away from structures, bushes, trees or other combustible material
- Campfires must be attended at all times
- Absolutely no fireworks or sparklers are allowed on the Ranch
- Campfires MUST be put out completely before leaving the area. DO NOT let them burn themselves out unattended!!
FIRE BANS (either by State or Sourdough order)
- Should there be a ban on campfires due to lack of moisture and dry conditions on the ranch ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPFIRES will be allowed. This includes Charcoal, Tiki Torches and smoking outside of vehicle or trailer.
- Propane fire rings are allowed to be used but need to be attended at all times.
